We want to give back to our community for all the support that we have received from our customers and local suppliers over the last 120 years of Browns.

Longford, Tasmania

 

​Nestled in the foothills of the Great Western Tiers, the Georgian village of Longford, lying 175m above sea level at the convergence of the Macquarie and the South Esk Rivers, 27km from Launceston and 12km off the Midlands Highway. It is just south of the Illawarra Road, a road connecting the Bass and Midland Highways.

 

It has a population of 3,053 (2011 census) and is part of the Northern Midlands Municipality. The region is predominantly agricultural, noted for wool, dairy produce and stock breeding.

 

Much admired for its typical English country landscape, Longford’s original Georgian architecture remains largely intact. A short drive out of the township, you find two of Tasmania’s finest estates, Woolmers and Brickendon. These World Heritage listed convict sites welcome visitors.
